ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, INNOVATION &
THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS)

INTRODUCTION

In an era of accelerating technological change and mounting global environmental challenges, artificial intelligence is emerging not only as a transformative force for the future but also as a strategic driver of progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From climate action and responsible consumption to sustainable cities and quality education, AI offers unprecedented opportunities to design smarter systems, support evidence-based decision-making, and create innovative solutions for pressing socio-economic issues.

The “NextGen Sustainability” 15th Youth International Conference-&Summer School 2026 at University of Rzeszów, Faculty of Economics and Finance has been created as a platform that brings together young talents, researchers, and future leaders from across Europe, America and Asia. Its mission is to foster meaningful collaboration, inspire creativity, and encourage interdisciplinary dialogue on how AI-driven innovations can address real-world sustainability challenges.

Throughout five immersive days, participants will engage in expert lectures, interactive project sessions, academic discussions, and intercultural exchange activities. Working in international teams, they will explore how advanced technologies can be applied in fields such as green energy, smart cities, sustainable finance, agriculture, and the circular economy. An important component of the program will be student presentations of academic articles, allowing participants to share their research findings, exchange perspectives, and receive feedback from peers and faculty.

This scholarly element not only enhances the academic dimension of the event but also encourages critical thinking, scientific communication, and collaborative learning. The goal is not only to deepen understanding of AI’s potential but also to cultivate practical skills in designing responsible, human-centered, and environmentally conscious solutions.

Ultimately, the conference-workshop aims to empower the next generation of researchers and innovators to think critically, collaborate across borders, and shape a future where technological progress and sustainable development go hand in hand.
